The Minnesota Indian Women's Sexual Assault Coalition seeks proposals for our upcoming conference; Restoring the Sacred Trails of Our Grandmothers: Building a Legacy of Strategic Activism, which is a 2 1/2 day event.

We are very excited to be co-sponsoring this conference with the Sacred Hoop Coalition and Men As Peacemakers. We are seeking workshops that offer an intersectional approach to anti-violence work. Workshops that offer examples of strategic activism, help develop skills for effective advocacy and activism, and that address a spectrum of community members are preferred. Examples might include workshops for engaging youth, elders, Two Spirit/Native LGBTQ, survivors with disabilities, and working with men and boys. Workshops that are presented by or co-presented with youth are encouraged.

Each workshop is approximately 60 - 90 minutes in length, however, the planning committee may consider longer workshops.

Everyone has a role to play in fostering strategic activism to end sexual violence. The intended audience includes advocates, law enforcement, medical professionals, chemical dependency programs, community members, elders, men, and various other working to end violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women and children.

All presenters will be offered travel assistance including lodging, per diem, and mileage for one day during the conference. Additional days for lodging and perdiem will be at the presenter's expense. Presenters can also request a scholarship for additional days.

We also offer an honorarium for each workshop selected. The exact amount will be determined once proposals are selected, and will include prep time and time presenting.

If your proposal is accepted, please note that we will make paper copies of materials to include in the conference binders. Therefore, please plan to submit all presentation materials electronically no later than March 10, 2017 if your proposal is accepted.

Proposal submissions must be recieved by February 24th, 2017. Completed proposals may be submitted via mail, fax, or by mailing proposals directly to Nicole Matthews at 651-646-4800 or 1-877-995-4800, or by emailing
