2017 National ID&R Forum
Call for Proposals
The ID&R Center @ ESCORT is seeking proposals for workshops and presentations for the 2017 National ID&R Forum to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana from September 19-21, 2017. The Forum is designed to focus specifically on identification and recruitment (ID&R) for migrant education programs.

Potential Session Topics
Each year the planners for the National ID&R Forum seek proposals that address aspects of the Migrant Education Program related to the eligibility, identification, and recruitment of migrant children and youth. The proposals for the 2017 National ID&R Forum will follow the same expectations. And, given the recent eligibility changes to the program as a result of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), sessions for this year’s Forum are likely to spark some interesting discussions on the effective implementation of ESSA at the district, regional, and state levels.

Potential Topics for the 2017 ID&R Forum include:
  • Migrant Child Eligibility under ESSA
  • Innovative Strategies to Identify and Recruit Migrant Children
  • Using Technology in ID&R
  • Electronic COE Implementation and Best Practices
  • Effective Recruiter Training
  • Implementing Quality Control in ID&R
  • Recruiting Non-traditional Populations
  • Recruiting and Serving Preschoolers and OSY
  • Urban Recruitment and the new ESSA
  • ESSA Implications for Recruitment Efforts

In addition, the Forum also can entertain general education topics that are of importance to recruiters, such as:

  • Rights of Immigrant Children
  • Recruiter Safety
  • Understanding the Migrant Lifestyle
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Binational Education Program
  • HEP/CAMP
Please note:
  • Presenters will be responsible for their expenses related to participation in the conference, including conference registration fee, travel, food and lodging.
  • If applicable, presenters are also responsible for preparing a sufficient quantity of handouts for distribution; presenters will be notified of the expected number of handouts to prepare.
  • All conference-related information will be sent to the lead presenter who is responsible for sharing with the co-presenters.
Please share a copy of the Call for Proposals with other interested individuals.
