Position Description:                      

Position Title: OCAF Executive Director

Location: 34 School Street, Watkinsville, GA,

: Full-time / Salary

Reports To: OCAF Board of Directors

Reporting to Executive Director: Office Administrator, Programs Assistant, Gallery Director and any personnel full or part-time that may be contracted


Executive Director will have overall operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion, and execution of the mission of the organization. Emphasis should be placed on programming excellence, growth, sustainability, community relations, and volunteer support.


Personnel and Volunteers

  • Coach, provide positive support, develop, and evaluate personnel on an ongoing basis. Staff includes but is not limited to Office Administrator, Programs Assistant, Gallery Director and any personnel full or part-time that may be contracted.
  • Actively engage and energize Volunteers. Provide feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Solicit and coordinate Chairs for programs and events. Adhere to timelines and budget.

Finance and Budget

  • Manage the budget associated with the operations and maintenance of the facilities and the general administration of the organization.
  • Provide oversight for the research and preparation of grants, endowments, planned-giving, etc.
  • Review and evaluate proposals and associated budgets for programs and events prior to presentation to the Board.
  • Coordinate OCAF’s Capital Campaign efforts.
  • Manage and grow support from OCAF sponsors and donors.
  • Develop and manage a Membership Committee that will actively work to increase individual, associate, and business level memberships.
  • Look for opportunities to maximize our purchasing power as an organization.
  • Seek opportunities to offer OCAF spaces as rentals.

 Communications and Public Relations

  • Enhance all aspects of communications including the website, social media, newsletters, etc. with the goal of increasing brand awareness.
  • Use personal relationships to garner new opportunities for sponsorship and collaboration.
  • Maintain existing relationships and seek opportunities to foster new connections with local businesses and other organizations, on behalf of Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, (OCAF).
  • Solicit opportunities to speak to organizations or civic groups regarding the mission of OCAF.
  • Coordinate tours of the facilities upon request.
  • Coordinate press releases and interviews with the press.
  • Prepare a monthly report for the Executive Board and Board of Directors regarding capital campaign, ongoing activities, opportunities, and potential challenges.
  • Serve on community committees as required by the OCAF Board.

 Facility Management

  • Coordinate the usage and maintenance of OCAF facilities.
  • Oversee the management of new capital improvement projects.
  • Work with lessees and renters to insure their compliance with OCAF lease agreements and organizational policies.
  • Advise the Executive Board of any potential facility improvements needed to support organizational programs.
  • Coordinate with Event Chairs to ensure facilities are scheduled and ready for use.

Planning and Marketing

  • Set goals, priorities, and timelines to stay on track with responsibilities.
  • Follow through on actions and commitments identified and approved by the Board.
  • Coordinate with Event Chairs to review event results and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Oversight of artistic quality and brand image.
  • Ensure coordination of all marketing materials for classes, exhibits, events, promotions, membership and newsletters.
  • Provide statistics on programs and events with an emphasis on the successes and community contributions.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Education or Marketing. Education and work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if commensurate.
  • Non-profit and/or cultural arts organization experience, or an interest and/or involvement in the arts is desired.
  • Experience is required in general management, marketing, fundraising, and public relations. Some exposure to “major-gifts” fundraising is a plus.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive personal relationships with staff, community leaders, supporters and volunteers.
  • A willingness to work in the evenings and on the weekends during special events.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, verbal and written skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or similar is required.
  • Graphic design, PowerPoint, Constant Contact, Quickbooks, website updating, and social media experience is a plus.
